What Shampoo/ Conditioner?
I just got a long haired miniature Dachschund. What Shampoo and conditioner do you reccomend? Should I use a finishing spray?

Keep it simple... natural is always best... herbal baby.... but beware... tea tree oil can be a bit drying.. find a good ph balanced... Whole foods have several....
I am a dog groomer and I love Nova Pearls Cream Rinse on long hair dogs. Makes them silky soft and detangles as well. Nova Pearls also makes a great moisture spay rhat smells great. I believe you can buy them retail- at Petco.
I would reccomend something gentle, oatmeal or shea butter based. You don't want anything too frangrant or harsh on a pup. Also, make sure its formulated for dogs since they have a different ph balanace in their skin then humans.
Finishing spray is your call. Since your pup probably doesn't have a full coat yet, its probably unnecessary now. But if you want to use something in between baths...i don't see any problem.
I agree with Chanel. Is that your puppy in the avatar? sooo cute!
make sure you brush and comb any mats out before bathing. Wet fur makes bigger knots!
I really like the John Paul Pet Puppy formulas for little ones.

In response to Coco 41 - great advice - but do know that tea tree, when used in moderation can be a higly effective natural flea deterrant. Get to know your dog and your dog's needs!

I personally love Buddy Wash and Buddy Rinse by Cloud star it is a coconut and aloe vera based shampoo and all the fragarance comes from essential oils rather than synthetic fragarance leaving your baby clean soft and fresh! Moe prefers the green tea scent but it also comes in lavender or rosemary.
